BBCiM Opening Ceremony by The Rt Hon Greg Hands MP

The first business incubation centre dedicated to British companies seeking to establish a physical presence in Malaysia last Friday on the 6th January 2017.

UK Minister of State for Trade & Investment, The Rt Hon Greg Hands MP was here to officiate the inauguration of the British Business Centre in Malaysia (BBCiM), where a ceremony and reception was held to welcome government officials, invited guests and members of the press.

Also present at the launch were H.E. Victoria Treadell, British High Commissioner to Malaysia, Tony Collingridge OBE, Head of The Department for International Trade (DIT) and Andrew Sill, Head of Commercial Banking HSBC Malaysia and Chairman of the British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (BMCC).

The BBCiM is a newly developed facility managed by the BMCC which offers incubation services and 24 hours secure access to co-working space for British companies seeking to launch physical operations in Malaysia. The business centre has fully furnished private offices, open desk units rented out on an hourly, daily, weekly, monthly or annual basis. Virtual office services are also available for UK companies who require a registered address in Malaysia.

The BBCiM is located on the same floor as the BMCC Executive Office at Wisma Selangor Dredging along Jalan Ampang, strategically across from the world famous Petronas Twin Towers in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.

Speaking at the launch, The Rt Hon Greg Hands MP commended the BMCC’s initiative in setting up the BBCiM to support the UK’s growing business footprint in Malaysia. He said, “The UK has always seen Malaysia as an important partner. The top 24 British companies in Malaysia alone have already invested around RM90 billion in Malaysia to date and created around 80,000 jobs here. British companies continue to show interest in doing business with Malaysia. The BMCC alone has assisted over 600 British companies in 2016, a 20 percent increase from the corresponding period in 2015.”

The BBCiM is now open for business and tenants of the business centre will be granted membership privileges of the BMCC business community with unique access to Chamber business support services, preferential introductions and networking opportunities.
