Business Centre launched by The Rt Hon Greg Hands MP
6 January 2017: UK Minister of State for Trade & Investment, The Rt Hon Greg Hands MP officiated the inauguration of the British Business Centre in Malaysia (BBCiM), the first business incubation centre dedicated to British companies seeking to establish a physical presence in Malaysia. Also present at the launch were H.E. Victoria Treadell, British High Commissioner to Malaysia, Tony Collingridge OBE, Former Director of The Department for International Trade (DIT) and Andrew Sill, Head of Commercial Banking HSBC Malaysia and Chairman of the BMCC.
Speaking at the launch, The Rt Hon Greg Hands MP commended the BMCC’s initiative in setting up the BBCiM to support the UK’s growing business footprint in Malaysia. He said, “The UK has always seen Malaysia as an important partner. The top 24 British companies in Malaysia alone have already invested around RM90 billion in Malaysia to date and created around 80,000 jobs here. British companies continue to show interest in doing business with Malaysia. The BMCC alone has assisted over 600 British companies in 2016, a 20 percent increase from the corresponding period in 2015.”
The BBCiM is open for business and tenants of the business centre will be offered membership privileges of the BMCC business community with unique access to Chamber business support services, preferential introductions and networking opportunities.
