Business Excellence Awards

The BMCC turns 55 this year! In conjunction with this, we will be hosting our first ever Business Excellence Awards to recognise the very best of individuals and companies across a range of categories. We are gearing up to gather over 400 attendees from all industries in a high-profile evening of exquisite dining, entertainment and celebration.

7 Award Categories

There are seven (7) award categories. Of which, four (4) awards are open to companies for nominations (Investing in People | UK Investor of the Year in Malaysia | Technology & Innovation Advancement | Malaysian Investor of the Year in the UK). Small-Medium Enterprise (SMEs) and Large Corporate classes are accorded for each award.

The remaining three (3) awards (UK-Malaysia Business Personality of the Year | Outstanding UK-Malaysia Partnership | Malaysian Investor of the Year in the UK) are not open for public applications. Recipients for these awards are pre-selected by the judging committee.

Companies may apply a maximum of two award categories. 

The investing in People Awards recognises an organisation which has dedicated significant attention and focus on developing people, whether its employees, graduates or members of its supply chain. Through the pursuit of excellence, this organization will have demonstrated its commitment to up-skilling the workforce

[Nominations Open to BMCC Members ONLY]

Criteria:

  • This category is open to all business sizes who are registered in Malaysia and are members of the BMCC
  • The company must demonstrate how they have continuously invested in their people since at least Q1 2017, and developed programs in order to strengthen leadership and staff capability at every level of their organisation or throughout their supply-chain.
  • The company must have fostered a culture of reward and recognition at all levels of their organisation, proving they have recognised the right behaviours as well as performance.
  • The company must be able to demonstrate that their people are inspired and motivated to acheive their potential and that managers lead by example to drive the organisation forward.

This award will recognise a British company that has made significant impact through their investment in Malaysia. The winner will have successfully integrated its business in Malaysia, and demonstrated its appetite and commitment to continue to grow its presence in-market

[Nominations Open to BMCC Members ONLY

Criteria:

  • This category is open to any sized British registered company or subsidiary to a British company operating in Malaysia, and who is a member of the BMCC.
  • The business must demonstrate that it contributes to the local Malaysian economy through a thriving business showing impressive growth year-on-year.
  • The company must prove how it is contributing towards high-value job-creation
  • The company must provide evidence of increased organic growth and/or investment in Malaysia since its beginning of operations in Malaysia.

This award is given to a company that relentlessly pursues new solutions and challenges the status quo in order to operate with greater efficiency and effectiveness. Through developing innovative technologies and taking risks, this company is contributing to Malaysia’s productivity enhancement and paving the way to greater system automation while developing its people’s skill-set to tackle these challenges

[Nominations Open to Members & Non-Members]

Criteria:

  • This award is open to any sized UK or Malaysian business registered in Malaysia. Members and non-members of the BMCC may apply.
  • The company should demonstrate that they have substantially improved their operational performance since minimum Q1 2017 in terms of workflow effectiveness, customer experience management, increased turnover and improved margins or cost control through an innovation in their use and application of technologies.

The Diversity Award recognizes companies of all sizes, across all industries that have shown their commitment to developing a diverse workforce. This award recognizes those who have programs, initiatives, resources and/or community involvement programs in place to advance the promotion of diversity in the workplace, while openly embracing the benefits that a diverse workforce has for everyone. Diversity is all encompassing, including age, disability, gender, sexual orientation, race and religion

Criteria:

  • This award is open to any sized UK or Malaysian business registered in Malaysia. Members and non-members of the BMCC may apply.
  • The business must provide evidence of embracing an open working environment and culture accepting all employees as equals.
  • The organisation should demonstrate to have adopted several diversity criteria.
  • The companny must illustrate a pro-active strategy, progress and results to acheiving gender and ethnicity balance at all levels in their organisation.

This award recognises an individual who through his/her UK-Malaysian business interests has made a positive impact on the economy, strengthened business ties between both countries, and impacted the community at large. This personality will have demonstrated strong leadership skills, creating a culture that excites, motivates and encourages innovation and ambition. A personality who has achieved many successes in business, who inspires and motivates others

[Closed Nominations]

The Outstanding Partnership Award goes to an individual, team or company that has successfully partnered with a UK or Malaysian counterpart. The close collaboration and synergies created through this partnership will have driven exceptional commercial results and been of significant value-creation to the economy. The award will be given to those who have capitalised on the best of UK & Malaysia expertise through a seamless partnership

This award recognises a Malaysian individual or company having contributed significantly to the UK economy. The award will focus primarily on the winner’s impact in the UK and how Malaysian investment is making its mark in the British landscape

Terms & Conditions

  • The BMCC Awards are jointly administered by ICAEW as official consultants. ICAEW will shortlist all entries for the judging panel
  • The judges’ decision is final and binding, and no correspondence will be entered into
  • Companies will be able to propose their nomination to a maximum of two categories per company. A company can only win one award
  • Nominations must be applied via online form ONLY via BMCC's website page
  • All entries must be complete, in line with all requirements and instructions
  • The judges’ decision is final and binding, and no correspondence will be entered into
  • Nominations will be accepted until Friday, 15 June 2018
  • Shortlisted nominees may be contacted to provide further detail to assist with the selection process
  • Winners will be announced during the formal BMCC Business Excellence Awards Ceremony on 19 July 2018
  • Companies entering their nomination must commit to be present at the BMCC Business Excellence Awards ceremony & Gala Dinner with a minimum purchase of two seats
  • By entering you agree to supply any additional information requested, whether financial or otherwise, with the knowledge and acceptance that this information will be made available to the ICAEW, BMCC and the judges in order to support their selection of the shortlist and winners. The companies which make the finals of the awards agree to take part and assist with any promotional activities or PR supporting the awards, for this and future awards. No responsibility will be taken by the ICAEW, BMCC, the judges nor any sponsors or companies associated with the awards, for delayed, lost or damaged entries or supporting documentation. Entries are non-returnable – if any supporting documents are sent through physically rather than electronically, they should be copies not originals. By submitting your entry you are confirming that the information it contains is correct.
