As one of the oldest British international schools in South-East Asia, staff, students and parents of the Alice Smith School were very excited with the Royal Wedding of HRH Prince Henry of Wales and Ms Meghan Markle.
Throughout the week, various activities took place around the campus. Teachers were also explaining to the children about the British Royal family outlining the royal history and other interesting facts.
To commemorate the big day, the Alice Smith School has created a Royal Wedding display in The Muse and this has caused quite a stir around the community.
“There is the opportunity to have your photo taken with a life size Prince Harry and Ms Meghan, choose an outfit for the wedding or dress up as one of the members of the Royal family. There are books about fairytale weddings, a replica of Windsor Castle and many of the staff have also contributed their own wedding day photos for the children to admire. Many of us have parties planned on the big day,” shared Kim Sloane, Cross Curricular Subject Coach.
Student Isabelle thinks that the royal couple are the most beautiful couple in the world! “We have been a British school here in Malaysia for over 70 years which we are really proud of. This celebration has added great value to what we offer here at the school though we might be far away. It is a great opportunity for us to celebrate the British character of the school as well as wish the happy couple the best of luck!”, said Head of School, Roger Schultz.
Though miles away, the Royal Wedding Fever could certainly be felt right here at the Alice Smith School.
