GDPR: BMCC Privacy Policy Update

The new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) legislation has come into effect on the 25th May 2018. It has an extraterritorial effect, so non-EU countries will also be affected. Even though the UK is planning to leave the EU, British companies continuing to do business with the EU after Brexit will need to comply with the Regulation to avoid infringements.

Representing the British and Malaysian business community, the BMCC seeks to be in compliance with GDPR regulations. As a membership-based organisation, the Chamber does obtain and store information of individuals representing our member companies globally. We have thus updated our Privacy Policy as a baseline standard to inform you of the measures we are taking to protect your data.

Rabin & Associates: Malaysia's New Indirect Tax Landscape - Change of GST to SST

The interim measure is good as it allows a more gradual transition from a full GST regime to Sales and Service Tax (SST), and minimizes business disruptions. This would also allow time for the Government to gather views as it formulates the new SST. It is hoped that the introduction of the new SST will be done in a manner that is sensitive to business operations and mindful of resource and costs associated with change. This alert aims to highlight the general key considerations in the transition to SST.
