Save The Date! The BMCC Annual Charity Rugby Dinner Returns

The hallmark BMCC Annual Charity Rugby Dinner is back for the 13th year running!

Building on the great success of last year’s dinner featuring rugby legends David “Campo” Campese, Craig Chalmers and Kyran Bracken; in the process raising up to MYR40,000 in charity towards the National Cancer Society Malaysia, we are excited to host three more legendary players for this year’s instalment. 

Justin Marshall, the New Zealand All Black’s 54th Test Captain, making 81 appearances between 1995 and 2005 (61 wins, 1 draw, 19 defeats) and scoring a record 24 test tries, a tally that more than doubles the next best for an All Backs scrum half. 

Peter Winterbottom, England’s openside flanker from 1982 to 1993, held the country’s most-capped openside (with 58 caps) till 2003. Known for his work rate, durability, hard tackling and courage, he was the second England player to reach 50 caps, after Rory Underwood, and was inducted onto the Twickenham "Wall of Fame" in November 2005.

Fergus Slattery, the former Irish rugby union player earning 61 caps, 18 as captain, and scored 3 tries. He was captain of the most successful Irish touring side ever in 1979 which won 7 of the 8 matches in Australia. Slattery was also a member of the Irish Triple Crown-winning team in 1982 and was inducted into the International Rugby Hall of Fame in 2007.

BMCC Breakfast Talk Series

In a brand new line of events, the BMCC together with sponsors TMF Group will hosts the first of its Breakfast Talk Series on the topic of “Wellness - The Strategy from Good to Great.”

Due to take place on Thursday the 2nd of March 2017, this first installment will feature Dr Greg Jakubowski, the Regional Medical Director, Corporate Solutions, Asia of International SOS as well as Ho Mun Kiat, Senior Vice President and National Practice Leader of the Employee Health & Benefits Malaysia from Marsh & Brokers (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd.

The speakers will touch on the matters concerning the benefits of wellness programmes to employee and employers, the importance of wellness programmes to business continuity, trends of wellness in the workplace, managing healthcare cost through proactive measures and the pragmatic approaches in promoting workplace wellness.

Admission to this event is free of charge to all BMCC members, and is limited to 30 pax on a first-come-first-serve basis. Breakfast and morning beverages will be served. More information can be found below.

BBCiM - Open Days

We would like to take this opportunity to invite you to visit us during the Open Days of the British Business Centre in Malaysia (BBCiM).

Designing resilience into your organisation – a joint seminar by International SOS & Control Risks

On 18 Jan 2017, a security awareness seminar jointly organised by International SOS Malaysia and Control Risks shared the current terrorism environment in Malaysia and how businesses can integrate building security strategies and design solutions to mitigate security risks.

This half-day event brought together experts from Royal Malaysian Police, Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad and other prominent speakers who shared experiences and practical advice in managing security-related risks.  We gained further insights into the effectiveness of security practices in recent criminal and terrorist situations in Malaysia through an interactive panel discussion before closing of the event.

Top Choice for Banquets!

The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre) registered a 40% rise in revenue from its banquet and function events during 2016, under the Corporate Sales segment, as compared to the previous year (2015). The banquets and functions revenue was the highest-ever recorded in a calendar year since opening in 2005. The Centre hosted 102 banquets and functions last year compared to 75 in 2015, a 26% increase year-on-year.

Elaborating on the achievement, the Centre’s General Manager, Alan Pryor, said, “We are fortunate to have a strong base of loyal clients across the board. The Corporate Sales segment includes many long-standing recurrent clients who have helped shape our culinary distinction and their interest in creative, unique and multi-cultural culinary offerings have enhanced our team’s passion to deliver truly distinctive experiences that have culminated in the Centre’s exemplary reputation.”
