Breakfast Talk Series 4

Last week the 20th of June, the BMCC hosted what is perhaps our most resoundingly refreshing Breakfast Talk yet. The 4th series featured two speakers: George Aveling, the CEO of TMI Consultancy Sdn. Bhd and Daniel Posavac, the CEO of Bonsey Design Jaden. George Aveling presented a new revolutionary app called Zappar and Daniel Posavac unboxed a descriptive and in-depth explanation on branding in a digital age.

George Aveling presented first with an unexpected new application for everyone to use, immediately engaging the crowd with the use of their personal mobile phones. He announced Zappar, an app that uses augmented reality to change perspectives of your camera view. This app reads a specific logo to enable the device to do its wizardry. By showing this, he set up a bunch of logos around the room including one he revealed in strategic fashion on his red t-shirt.

Daniel Posavac had informed us about Digital Branding of what it is and how it works. With  a colourful and meticulous presentation, he mentioned the well-known brands of websites and revealed their popularity and why, how much they are used and what digital branding needs to develop to grow. An ideal turnout of 20 attended the breakfast talk, caught up in coffee-mingling before and after. Once more as always, a big thank you to our sponsors TMF Group for which this Breakfast Talk Series would not have been possible.

Manchester enjoying 8.4% house price growth

Manchester is showing the steepest rise in house price growth in the UK, while cities such as London, Bristol, Cambridge and Oxford are experiencing significant decline. Cities in the Midlands have seen a robust growth which is expected to continue, overtaking previously high-growth cities in the South.

In the UK as a whole, city house price growth is running at 5.3 per cent, down from 8.7 per cent in April 2016. However, there are 11 cities which have demonstrated more rapid and robust growth from April 2016 to April 2017 than in the previous year.

BSKL becomes first school in Asia to receive COBIS Patron’s Accreditation

Following a robust accreditation process in April 2017, we are very proud to announce that our school has been awarded with the new COBIS (Council of British International Schools) Patron’s Accreditation, the first school to be accredited in Asia.

The new external validation system, which bears the name of the association’s Patron, HRH The Duke of York, emphasises school improvement and development rather than a snapshot inspection. It provides a rigorous diagnostic on core elements, focusing on learning and teaching and leadership in the school.
