Malaysia Budget 2018

Last Friday, Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak tabled the much anticipated Budget 2018, announcing a MYR 280 billion spending plan. Among the key highlights were personal income tax cuts of 2% for middle-income taxpayers, student loan incentives, bonuses and additional benefits for civil servants, as well as allocations for agricultural sectors and rural infrastructure development.

According to Amarjeet Singh, Partner and Tax Leader of EY Malaysia, Budget 2018 promises a positive outlook for the nation with strong focus and incentives for the private sector and measures to alleviate the burdens arising from increased cost of living.
