Construction & infrastructure Sector Report 2017 / 2018

The total value of construction work grew by 8.1% year-on-year to record a total value of RM32.6 Bil- lion for the year. This was fuelled mainly by the civil engineering segment of the industry. GDP attribut- ed by the construction sector from 2010 to 2016 av- eraged RM9.57 Billion. The private sector continues to steer Malaysia’s do- mestic demand with the bulk of private investment driven by ongoing infrastructure projects. Growth in the construction sector continues to be propelled by the rail infrastructure projects, urban housing and affordable housing segments.
